T-38 talon construction numbers

Could someone explain why there seem to be different ranges of T-38 Talon construction numbers. Whilst editing my Sheppard pics I noticed there were the (to me at least) familiar Nxxxx series, but I also found some Txxxx numbers (starting from 6000 or fy 1967??) Nothing really important, but I'm just curious....
I have never drunk milk, and I never will . . . .

if I didn't have a job I would have been ready editing by now :-)

still, totally agree with you, it was a benchmark trip... great scores

(but I still would like to know the reason for two different Talon numbering series :-d)
