Hi,

Minutes ago, I was informed that nine (9) C-17s are present at Spang. Is there something going on?

16 F-16s are actually now departing (first ones overhead uk now) to US for exercise.

Think they need some support, but Spang is also heavily used for troop / cargo transportation. And yes, sometimes that means up to 15 different AMC a/c a day.

Thanks to Paul at Touchdown

The following tankers went airborne from Mildenhall

79-1949 KC-10A 305 AMW dep Cafe 21
85-0027 KC-10A 305 AMW dep Cafe 31
62-3507 KC-135R 6 AMW dep Cafe 22
58-0089 KC-135T 319 ARW dep Cafe 32

Cafe 21 Flt met Huron 71/76
Cafe 31 Flt met Huron 81/(86)

Correct the F-16's departed as Huron?
Assume makes an ASS of U and ME.

There was a Cafe41 also, but didn't go airborn.

Indeed F-16s were flying with Heron c/s.

Hi,

Cafe 21 Flight - a KC-10 - with five F-16s seen in Leuchars, Scotland overhead at 10.45L. Huron 75 and 76 dropped out of formation with delared fuel emergency and now at Leuchars. Serials will hopefully follow.

Can anyone identify the Huron 71 Flight that I saw, please?

Hi,

No serials for 71. But with thanks to Allan Penman the following serials are already known:
Huron71-74 not known yet
Huron75 91-0481/SP
Huron76 91-0349/SP
Huron81 91-0412/SP
Huron82 91-0472/SP
Huron83 91-0344/SP
Huron84 91-0340/SP
Huron85 90-0828/SP
Huron86 91-0338/SP

Huron75/76 diverted into Leuchars, Huron85/86 were spares, changed into Gunman01/02 and RTB Spangdahlem.

Kind regards,
Oscar (with thanks to Allan)

Ps: For Rick: the KC-10 for the first flight was 79-1949

Just got word that Huron91 indeed cancelled (tanker broke).

There were 9 US C-17s at Spang and 1 CAF C-17 (02).

Not bad.... :drinking:

Hi again,

Thanks Oscar. I spoke with Allan who has also confirmed these with me (he lives about 7 kms from me). Am just back from Leuchars and confirm that 91-0481 23FS and 91-0349 22Fs were both on VASS at Leuchars at 13.40L.

Anything further on remainder of Huron 71 Flight much appreciated.

Screw SBS.....

Here's the list that was actually READ at Spang this morning:
69-0003
87-0032
98-0049 arr RCH8049
98-0052
98-0058
01-0188 dep RCH1188
02-2106
03-3118
03-3124
06-6168
07-7182
177702

Huron71-74 has been photographed, so serials will follow tonight. Huron73 came back within 30 minutes with problems. So only Huron71-73 made it through in the end.

Huron91 cancelled because of tanker problems.

Just to clear things up..

CFC4067 (177702) departed yesterday (09-01)
CFC4050 (177703) arrived yesterday (09-01) afternoon..and departed today (10-01) again..

So Reinold and gang so it correctly!
And yes.. the best way is to see the plane visual.. yourself.. :D

91-0361/SP F-16C 23rd FS Gunman2 dep/arr (spare)

Let me first state the above F-16's are 100% correctly ID'd and if anyone wishes to see photoproof, feel free to send me a PM. Any help with Huron72 is appreciated though , as the same counts for the 4 A-10's!
Although it was easterly winds, these Hogs took of rwy23 but landed 05 and therfore escaped identification. The F-16's and departing C-17 were photographed during take-off. We stood along the fence on the eastside hoping the F-16's would break right after take-off. Unfortunatly the broke left instead and only Huron72 escaped total ID due to his early left turn. However Gunman flt was more co-operative and made our day by performing several SFO's and breaking right after their approach, resulting in stunning action shots with only 400mm!

So...
Huron71-74 not known yet
Huron75 91-0481/SP
Huron76 91-0349/SP
Huron81 91-0412/SP
Huron82 91-0472/SP
Huron83 91-0344/SP
Huron84 91-0340/SP
Huron85 90-0828/SP
Huron86 91-0338/SP

Huron75/76 diverted into Leuchars, Huron85/86 were spares, changed into Gunman01/02 and RTB Spangdahlem.
85 and 86 are not correct here and they def. not changed into Gunman! 338 was not in this 2nd flt at all, but 92-3918 was. For the order of take off and call-signs see above log.

I hope this helps
