I'm looking for information on the 3rd TFW / Clark AFB participation to Desert Storm 1991.
I found some info on the www that is confusing:
Some info shows the 3rd left the Philippines in February 1991, and 4 F-4Es deployed to Incirlik, Turkey as part of the 7440th Composite Wing.
In March 1991 they left Incirlik for Spangdahlem (and later the USA).
apparently they didn't see any combat over Iraq.
Other info is however referring to 6x F-4Gs in stead of F-4E.
Who can tell me what type of F-4 was deployed (E or G), how many aircraft (4 or 6) and which unit they belonged to.
According the Gulf Air War Debrief special edition of the World Air Power Journal, now International Air Power review, there were six F-4Es deployed to Incirlik during the build up preceding Operation Desert Storm. It appears that they may not have been used in combat operations, according the book.
but when trying to verify, I found - beside a confirmation of this F-4E deployement (3rd TFS) -also info from the 90th TFS (at that time flying the F-4G):
<<
While these changes occurred with the 3rd Wing, the 90th Fighter Squadron deployed six F-4Gs to join coalition forces in the Middle East for Gulf War I. This was the last deployment for the 90th with the F-4Gs.

So, that's why I'm now a bit confused.
Hi... yet another man without a name ,
You could try contacting Joe: http://www.warthogpen.com/joe.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; His website quotes the deployment to Incirlik and he might have the details you are looking for.
Maybe I have some inpho phor you.
This inpho has been copied phrom the book "the Phantom Story"by Anthony M. Thornborough and Peter E. Davies. Amongst other very interesting inpho on the F-4 Phantom worldwide there is some nice coverage on the F-4 participation during the Iraqi war.
Covering the northern Iraqi sector was a task in the phirst period op the 23rd TFS Fighting Hawks, with a unique mix of 13 F-16C's and 12 F-4G's, based at Incirlik, Turkey, December 1990. They phlew 900 combined missions bephore returning backhome March 15th 1991.
Part of the Weasel Wing at Clark AFB, 3 TFS "Peugeots"with DMAS-mod F-4E's phlew in 2 waves of each 5 aircraft under callsign "Clan" via Andersen, Hickam, across the US of A. To George and McGuire, starting February 16th 1991. And then phrom New Jersey to Turkey. 4 F-4E's arrived February 20th. Their commander was the WSO Lt-Col. Craig Lightfoot under ""Proven Force". They phlew flak suppression in support of 7440 CW. Its main equipment was the AN/AVQ-26 Pave Tack pod (on the centerlinestation). A nice picture of a PN-coded CO aircraft is in the book. Some missions in smartbombing were cancelled on Iraqi airbus transports on February 28th. Phurther missions were phlown to Mosul area. March 19 was the date the aircraft headed phor home aphter having phlown missions with Turkish F-4 units. It was one way phlight to Amarc and meant retirement phor the last 3 Pacific F-4E's.Others were reassigned via George AFB to the Idaho ANG.
just received the confirmation from Joe (see mail from Stefan).
he's talking about 3 F-4Es (3rd TFS) and 3 F-4Gs (90th TFS), taking part of the 7440th Composite Wing
