USN C-37B 166376 from VR-1 was present on the evening of Saterday June 27th. Also noted was the localy based C-37A 01-0076.
Preserved Meteor still on the gate and the Hunter was present on the roundabout.
From what spot are the based C-37/C-12/UH-60 (if outside) best visible at Chievres. Is this ramp at the west-side off the field close to the town Chievres??
From what road are those best for spotting?
We want to check there tomorrow after the NTM in Cambrai.
Chievres has the same level of security as the other Army fields, signs mention that even carrying along paper and pencil is trictly prohibited and from experience I know they are very strict at that. Even taking pictures from the preserved Meteor at the barracks, en the F-84 at the gate is a challenge although the F-84 can be seen from the fuelstation next to the entrance, depending on how green the trees and bushes are. Have travelled around the entire field a few times but never been able to see any of the based aircraft so I'm not able to tell you where they are although locals mentioned they indeed would be at the west ramp. But even the Airfield Guides do not mention anything about Chievres so sorry that I can't be of any more help.
We were may 11th around 18.30h at Chievres. No problems with photographing the Hunter on the roundabout. Also seen were the Meteor and F-84F at both gates.
In front off the most south blue hangar was a Gulfstream we could not read. It was white, had a dark blue underside, a sort off shield-logo with stripes in it in the tail, no serial on tail or engines, a sort of unit badge next to the open standing door. Is it a US C-37 or civil Gulfstream, anyone?? We took the road from Rue Auguste Criqualion along the fence (were we met the mil police outside the fence, so we left) to the supermarket near the policestation at Grand'Rue. From this spot it sould be possible to read based a/c visitors.
