London Heathrow 17/04/09

Post by VRMichiel »

Hello all,

Last Friday I visited LHR. I took the bus with Eurolines from Antwerp to London. It was an unique experience which I will never do again. We left Antwerp at 23.45 and arrived in Calais at 2 am. After waiting 1.30 hour at the French customs, we could proceed our journey for 2 minutes to the Englisch customs. Two Mexicans who were on our bus could not enter England. Due to that delay, we missed our train across the channel. We had to wait another 1.30 hour for the next train.
At 6.50, we arrived in London in the pooring rain. I went to the underground to get my day ticket and departed to LHR. Once there I had to walk for a half hour to the 27R spot. Visibilty was poor and it kept raining so I went to the downtown area for some sightseeing. Once in the city, it stopped raining but I didn't feel like going to the airport yet.
At 2 pm I went to Hatton Cross to go to the 27L spot and waited 'till 3 pm.

This is some of the traffic what I saw between 3 pm and 5 pm because it started to rain again.
I'm very sorry for the terrible pics.

Tip: next time, just fly to LHR.
Try BMI, they often have reduced price actions and fly from Brussels and Amsterdam
I always say a boy can learn more at an airport than at any school.

Hi Michiel,

Dramatic story on the transport. I always try to stay away from buses and coaches, you just gave me another reason... BTW, that story made me look at the photos, normally I don't have enough patience for 25 at once. ;)

:?: There must be something you like about them, why show them here otherwise? I think you handled the terrible weather quite well. Wishing you more luck next time!

VLM is a better option for me. Departing from my hometown, checking in 20 minutes before departure etc.

Thanks, I posted them because it's no traffic you see everyday. Unless you live in the London area :) .
