Hello,
I have a lot of digital photo's to archive. At the moment I don't know what to use; Lightroom 2.3 or PS/Bridge CS4. Is it better to put all the pictures in one directorary and then give them numbers like 78-0221, J-221, F-16A, 322 Sqn, RNethAF etc.? I know a lot of people have a very good archive to find a special picture in a very short time. Any suggestions/help? Thanks.

Regards!

I'm not into military photography, but I do quite a lot of civil stuf. I mainly use Ps and Br to edit and view them. The filenames are fairly simple: just the registration. The pics go in a folder (with the date and place), which go in another folder (with a certain registration).

I'm pretty good at registrations, so I mostly know which aircraft is on certain pics. If I don't, I just browse my registrations-list, in which I've added info as aircraft model, name, airline and (if there are any) remarks. Works fine for me!

Why don't use metatags when using Lr? This is much more flexible to use. You can preconfigure a whole tree according to your own wishes and assign the metatags afterwards.
