I know a few UK people done this as it was costly to pay from over seas.

Possibly, but only with wind from the east. In that case, one could shoot across the runway and take the jets as they prepare to line up.
Don't forget heathaze, though, both from engines and the sun.

I think my plans to visit the spotter's day have just been binned, despite me having paid the same sum of money as Rob Schleiffert in a previous post.
It's way better to do it the way we always did for all those years.....

Maybe it is wise that everyone sends an email to philippe.dhyne@mil.be, one of the organisers, about this problem and either demands the air force job promotion goes to the north side and spotters to the south side or otherwise demand your money back.

Exactly, whining here won't solve a thing, sending an email to the organisation MIGHT just change something...
We should bear in mind that neither the Belgian Airforce, Florennes Air Base nor the TLP Organisation is there to please us spotters, we should be glad that they allow us on the airbase to start off with...

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to pay a last visit to the TLP playform myself too, but it's up to the organisation to assign us a location and the only thing that MIGHT just change something, or at least make them aware, would be by everyone that has remarks to send that remark by email to mr. Dhyne.

And if you don't want to pay, then don't..., nobody is forcing you to pay, nor to go to this spotter's day.
You can sit at the good old locations one more time and enjoy the last views.
But for me, no matter what, I'll be on the location that I will get assigned as I have paid and I am very much willing to go, and I also have already sent an email to mr. Dhyne and am hoping for the better....

one advise though: ensure your message is in French as Mr. Dhyne only speaks and reads French !

U zult inderdaad aan de noord zijde van de baan staan. Er is geen vervoer naar de TLP ramp aangezien we dan met een veiligheidsprobleem zitten. Men verwacht nl 2000 spotters en dat kunnen we niet aan bij TLP. Verdere info via de organisatie zijnde 2Wing Tac op Florennes. TLP heeft absoluut geen bemoeienis met deze dag.

I received a similar message:
The TLP Admin Supervisor (Nico de Vos) informs us that photographers will be placed north of the runway. There is no transportation to the TLP-area, since they see this as a risk (they expect about 2000 spotters and TLP-staff cannot handle this). Mr. de Vos also stated that TLP is NOT organizing this day and that further info should be requested at 2nd Tac Wing at Florennes.

Maybe it is better to let all of us know what the exact location will be, where all people ,attending the spottersday ,wil take place at the "north side" of the runway. It is still a big place and it could be everywhere.
Then I think it is wiser to say if you're attending or not.

Maybe it is just a small request to let the aircraft after arrival taxi along the other side of the runway !!

There would seem to be an alternative solution, albeit a "second best" solution only; that would be to tow the participating aircraft to the north side for the mission on wednesday and to have them return there too... enough platform space available if I remember correctly. Only problem that remains is the backlight on the runway. However, chances of this happening are very remote considering the reply from Florennes on the "security problem" arising from 2000 spotters on a platform full of aircraft. Yeah, right

(notes: somewhere in time it had to become reality – the last TLP flying course ever at Florennes had begun. Of course I would not take the risk to miss any opportunity to make best use of this final chance. Therfore, I joined another tour to Belgium with a fellow spotter.
Weather on the spot was as good or even better than forecasted and allowed for really enjoying a mass-launch and recoveries of an unexpected high number of 28 participating aircraft. Although half of them where F-16s, especially the Polish “fat-back” F-16D with conformal fuel tank and two F-16Ds from Spangdahlem featured some different shapes of the well-known aircraft type.
My personal highlight however where the two nowadays very rare Super Etendards, while four French Mirage 2000s, four Czech L-159s plus pairs of Italian Tornados and Spanish Eurofighter where very welcome too. Additional activity was provided by six based F-16s returning from exercise at Beauvechain; including two examples each equipped with a recce-pods under the belly and an ECM-pod under the port-wing. As this was not enough, two Belgian A.109s and a C-130 paid a visit. A further addition for this great day-log where two A.109s observed visually and identified via radio exactly when passing Liege airport on our way to Florennes and back home ...)
