Military bases in the Osaka Region

Post by nhoenich »

I am looking for information about potential bases within a manageable distance from Kyoto.
Any suggestions?

Never been to Japan myself (yet), so I cannot give you good info about how to get there. But check the Japan page on this site to find the location of the bases themselves: http://www.scramble.nl/jp.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Depends on your definition of managable. What means of transportation do you have? Rental or public transport?
See my site in my profile for "teasers".

Nothing really close to Kyoto. Osaka has several airfields, but only Yao houses a handful of mil choppers (it is good for spotting). There is the ShinMaywa Konan plant at Kobe, but you have to be lucky to catch a flying boat there.
With more time, an option would be to head east for the Nagoya area. Akeno lies south near the bay, Gifu and Komaki are on the city's northern side. The drive to either site would take about two hours minimum, I guess.
