unknown US Military Gulfstream.

Post by Shannon spotter »

Today at Shannon:

Gulfstream 30500
according to http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forum ... id=2613316" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it is USN but the serial lookes more like a USAF or US Army one. Any further info on it as there is nothing on the (allknowing  ) net is appreciated.

Kind regards,
Dirk.

Full serial is 830500, indeed a USN example, operated by VR-1 at Andrews AFB.

Believe this one is flying regurlarly with callsign CATBIRD, which appearantly is callsign of US NAVY Cdr in Europe.
Therefore this one most likely is indeed USN, perhaps this airframe was transferd to USN??

That's correct. They went to the USN and NASA.

It belongs to VR-1, but should be stationed on Sigonella. As replacement for the P-3. Should fly around the commander in chief ...
Using callsign catbird.

Flicking through some old pics i found a picture of it on a Dutch or Belgian airshow, not sure which. Date on the back is 7/95. It stood on static beside a C-21 (8)40084.

Any ideas which airshow this was?

Dirk,

Could be Chievres 1995. Was on 25-06-1995. They were both on static display.

Hope this helps

Greetings

Not only were they both at the static, but they were parked next to each other, so that ups the chances of this photo being taken at Chièvres even further.
