Hello all,

The following was noted during a 5 minute stop @Pisa the 7th of septemer (i don't mention the stored G222's again ;) Why is that 'relative new' C-27J in the storage area? Is it still operational or stored for some reason?):

Pisa, 07-09-2009

ItAF MM62177 46-42 C-130J 46 BA 2 Gr
ItAF MM62179 46-44 C-130J 46 BA 2 Gr
ItAF MM62180 46-45 C-130J 46 BA 2 Gr
ItAF MM62181 46-46 C-130J 46 BA 2 Gr
ItAF MM62182 46-47 C-130J 46 BA 2 Gr
ItAF MM62183 46-48 C-130J 46 BA 2 Gr
ItAF MM62184 46-49 C-130J 46 BA 2 Gr
ItAF MM62185 46-50 C-130J 46 BA 2 Gr
ItAF MM62189 46-55 C-130J-30 46 BA 50 Gr
ItAF MM62191 46-57 C-130J-30 46 BA 50 Gr
ItAF MM62195 46-61 C-130J-30 46 BA 50 Gr
ItAF MM62196 46-62 C-130J-30 46 BA 50 Gr
ItAF MM62215 46-80 C-27J 46 BA 98 Gr TM (storage area)
ItAF MM62221 46-85 C-27J 46 BA 98 Gr TM

Also seen in the Pisa area was a CL-415 and a Do228. Unfortunally i was driving on the Autostrada, so i couldn't read those two... Also a CH-47 was seen late in the evening 60km south of Pisa...

Thats all for now...

Ciao,
Jeroen

Those are two nice logs!!

Can you tell me from where you read those C-130's??
Perhaps you have a coördinate to enter into the TOM TOM?

I will probably come by the airfield this week, so I want to make a quick stop as well.

Any help would be welcome.

Thanks a lot!

Best regards, Rob.

Hi Rob,

You are on family holiday man, go to the beach! :D
Well since you're in the area... I have been there long time ago and had some success at spot 1 at the map below to the small flightline. Never been at spot 2, just from a google earth study. Not sure if the street belongs to the village San Piero a Grado. Be early to avoid heat waves! Someone updates to this one?

Spot 1: Street name: Via di Scepre, all the way to the rail bridge. Enroute you will see the stored G222s as well. Google earth coordinate: N43 50 56 38 E10 24 30 94
Spot 2: Street name: Via enrico Pezzi, all the way to the crash gate and go left just before it. Should give you a good view at the new ramp (new to me). GE: N43 40 21 86 E10 22 42 69

Good luck, say hello to the family!

Hey Rob,

the best way is to go to spot 2 (see post above me) for the C-130's! Via Enrico Pezzi is the correct adres, it's easy to find on Google Maps. The storage area is relative easy: If you are in front of the terminal (face to the entrance) go left. Then you find a kind of roundabout. go right here. Then just follow the road en you will find the storage area! From the busy SS-1 road you can see some C-27's but there is no real safe place to park je car near that road. Thats the reason i didn't read those off.

Be there early in the morning for the C-130's, it's 25-30 degrees celcius about 9-10 o'clock here. So a lot of heatwaves!

Hope this helps.

Jeroen
