Contacts with the Libyan AF continue and the indications now show the possibility of a Su 24 for the static display

I see that the participants-list on the website is dubbed as "complete" and the Libyans are still on the list, nice! If they actually do show up, please try to check the constructionnumbers of these birds as they are rarely seen. (BTW: Checking c/n's is always a good idea!). The constructionnumbers can be found in the following places:

, was to be expected however remains a pitty to those that have put efforts in there ....Malcolm Bezzina wrote:Quoting Malta Airshow website:
Spetember 17, 2009
A very sad day where it must be communicated that the Libyan AF will not make it to the Malta Int'l Airshow 2009. After long and intense efforts where participation was approved by both the air force and the ministry of defence in Libya, higher authorities have now declined our invitation. The situation developed last night and fresh efforts were made to salvage the situation but to no avail.
In the meantime, preparations for this year's airshow continue in earnest and there is still a possibility of increased participation by other countries, but this will feature in the participants' list if and when confirmations come in.
