Nice pictures Brian.
Do you need a stepladder to shoot the pic from the B-707??

Cheers,
Eric

Hi Eric,

No stepladder was used :) There is a hill at the beginning of the runway, but be very careful!
They dont like photographers...

Let's see what tomorrow brings us!

Really nice photos Brian!! but don't forget... it's not "so good" to make photos towards the airbase, better to cut eventual ground/base details from the images if they appear in your shots.

Wow those are some really nice photo's especially the israelis, great catch.
My first question was initially, how's spotting at Deci.......but reading all the comments it's just like the other parts of Italy, hide and shoot and hide again

unfortunately you are correct  ... here in Italy we are "tolerated" it may happen you have no problems for days and then, one day You have... and no reasons why... just a different MP that day that called the Police...
We got used to it.... like you are used to take pics without problems up there in the Netherlands....lucky you!
But if they do not see you taking pics towards the base (they see you from inside) you can have less problems.

This is for all the italian bases, not only for decimomannu.

On wednesday Carabinieri went out and asked as not to take pictures.... they saw some pics in the internet....and Israelians asked the base to be on alert from wednesday on and so they had to come to us to speak. Luckily we found some nice guys.... and we agreed with them to take pictures aswell (but behind the hill) so from Inside we were not seen from them and we were not able to take pictures towards the base..

In the afternonn we did not take pictures from the road along the fence but from the field a little bit further... however they were landing so loooowwww that we had no problems.

That' just to say how in Italy can go.... :x

BTW.... great days and great pics (with my new 7D....)!!!!!!

ciao gp
