I'm still a novice with all things Photo and tonight i've been running a couple of shots through Photoshop. When i saved the photo and then viewed it in Windows Gallery it looked less sharp and duller compared to viewing it in Photoshop , why is this ?
This is probably because windows will display the image at a pre-programmed resolution (let's say 780 x 520) and your image has a different resolution (let's say 900 x 600). To show the 900x600 image at the 780x520 resolution, Windows needs to reduce the size with 115,4%. It has to combine your pixels at a weird ratio to create a new image. Photoshop always resizes your image in logical steps (2/3, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4), which makes it a lot easier to display nicely, as the pixels can be combined better.
Hope this makes sense......

I use Picasa 3 from Google. Very easy to use.
It shows the pics in the good resolution and you have a great overview of all your images.
It's also a perfect programm for organising your pics.
