Iwan,

Please send me your emailaddress in private, and I can send some pictures I took and explain more.

But to explain. Where you want to go, just don't! If you take a ladder to overlook the fence for pictures, you for sure will have problems. I did it between the buildings once (on the left bottem of your picture) and I was reported by the F-1 pilot to the tower (you know I always have scanner with me  ) and within 10 minutes I had police with me.

I was standing on the street to the left from the Voie de la Ferme, but before those buildings. Here you can take pictures on taxitrack (but with fence in front of it) and during take-off (need 400mm for that). For landing a/c you can walk accross your red mark (make sure you don't take your car there, as the farmers will definately call the police!!!!) follow that small road up to where it goes to left and you can take nice landing shots (sun in your back).

Kind regards,
Oz

Ps: I cannot upload image, so I have to send it to you by email.....

Hi Iwan,

In the Morning we took photos on the western approach in a field beside the D966! From 13.00lt to 17.00lt we were at the closed civilian Terminal and used step ladders! No problems and no Police! The MP waved friendly to us on their patrol passing by while we were standing on the steps and took photos of some CTs :D

Gues you were lucky then? ;-)

But indeed, it's my opinion that in the last few years, it has become easier.......

But still I would not use a ladder......

That's right B727, but as I've heard the pilot call the tower myself (on my scanner) and was mentioning "me!", I had enough that day

Iwan, I did send the map and pictures by email.

Let me know when you're there, because I'm there several times a month......

LOL, yes Iwan, I am

That's because I pass by Reims several times a month, so mostly go there for a short brake. Though 2 weeks ago, I was there for 1,5 day (see log), and very interesting periode....

Hi all,
I'm planning on going to Reims anytime soon. Can someone tell how the flying activity is like on a Friday?
The plan is to go on 9 October.
Thanks in advance!

Iwan, I only went one time to reims so probably I was lucky. I went exactly were you are thinking to go. I had no ladders with me but there are few holes (3-4??) in the fence and you can easily use them (I had a 35-350L lens that time).
I shoot some F1s from there and pilots waved to me but I stayed one hour only, and after moved to the road to take landing shots, which I prefer over taxyshots.

I think that Oscar could have been met an "ex Colmar" pilot???? in Colmar they were more closed with spotters....

that's my experience, it was august 2008.... so up to you.

As you see without the ladder you could have problem with grass. You can see a friendly pilot here...

Before the Air show they were moving People.
After the show on Monday we had no problems with ladders up and down when needed.

Last July i visited with the Girlfriend we both had ladders and the police visited us out side and were very friendly

So its hit and miss like the SUN

Niels,

Flying activity on Fridays is very low in France.
Most of the airbases close early in the afternoon.
(Just like our experiences at St.Dizier)

Best regards, Rob.

Hi,

Regarding standing at the fence or not, I don't want to tempt the Gendarmerie, so perhaps it is possible, but I've had some bad experiences here.

Regarding flying on Friday. I've been there twice on friday. One day they stopped around noon (8 a/c in morning mission) and 1 day they stopped at 15.00 (also 8 in morning and 2 in afternoon).

May this help you,
Oscar

Very nice photos

Does anyone know if there is a general rule to Night Flights in France please?

I read on the internet the Orange Caritat often fly Nights on Tuesday and Thursdays, i was just wondering if this was also the case at Reims?
