G'day Uni,

Would you have any info for the Iruma show on the 3rd Nov?

Also, anything particular happening at Hyakuri on 4th-6th Nov?

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Motty.

Hi,

2 Nov. The last KV-107IIA-5 / 74-4844 will come to Iruma A.B. drom Hamamatsu.
She will have her final flight at Iruma O.H. (3 Nov.) and after that she will be a gate-guardian of the Iruma A.B..

I have no info. about Hyakuri by now.
(From the Defence White Book 2009 Japan, the 501sqn. have only 13 RF-4E/EJ at the end of March 2009. They've had 14 RF-4Es and 15 RF-4EJs).

Thank you very much Uni.

Is there a web page for the Iruma show which might tell what types will be there?

Do you have any contacts who know about current spotting opportunities at Hyakuri? I was there in 2007 but the new runway wasn't built then. Is the fence still the same or is there a new fence?

Sorry for too many questions but any information is helpful.

Thank you very much again.

Cheers,
Motty.

3 Nov. JASDF iruma O.H.
Static show will be:
C-1, C-130H, YS-11FC, U-4, U-125, U-125A, E-2C
CH-47J or JA, UH-60J, KV-107,
F-15J or DJ, F-2A or B, F-4EJkai,
T-4, T-7, T-400
AH-1S or AH-64D, OH-6D or OH-1
P-3C
There will be no US a/cs.
It will be almost same as the past few years...

Cautions:
There come more than 200,000 people at Iruma O.H. every time,
so there will be a long long lines in front of the toilet and shops.
(You'll wait about 1 hour)
You CANNOT bring with your steps/ladders into the base.
Large baggages are also inhibitted,
Around 1100-1430pm, you're sometimes(often?) limited to enter the apron.(Be careful!)

About Hyakuri, there are about 2m high fence all around the base.
Please see the Aviation Photo forum;

Thank you very much once again Uni. Very helpful.

Do you think there will be so many people at Iruma if it is on a weekday? Or are Iruma shows always on weekdays?

I also remember on my last time in Japan (2007) that stepladders were prohibited from airshows (so I didn't take mine to the first show) but I saw dozens and dozens of people with them. I actually needed a stepladder to avoid all the other people with them in my photos.

Is this a strict rule now or do people still take them anyway?

Thanks again.

Cheers,
Motty.

Hi Motty,
Did you check Japanese holidays? 3 Nov.(Tues.) is a holiday in Japan.
2 Nov.(Mon., the day KV-107 will arrive) is a weekday.
There will be a lot of galleries at Iruma on 2 Nov., because some a/cs for the static display will come the day.

Stepladders; usually the base PRO requests not to bring it into the base, but some people ignored it.
So they "demand" (or strongly requests) not to bring it this year.
I don't know what will happen at the gate this year.

Once again Uni, thank you very much for your help.

No, I hadn't realised that the 3rd was a holiday.

I am flying from Korea to Japan on the 2nd so I won't be able to get to Iruma on the Monday to catch the arrivals.

Thank you again.

Cheers,
Motty.

Hi Uni,

I saw a movie on Youtube from an impressive army day in Japan including live firing of a cobra AH-1 !!
Can you tell me where this was and is this a yearly show ?
I made a screenshot of the beginning of the movie...because my Japanese is not so good :-)
