REQ: Nov 21st, 2009: RCH6166

Post by pjotrtje »

Hi everyone,

While flying along in my single engine crate Saturdaymorning 21st of November I heard ground Dutch Mil comms with RCH6166 with chicks, descending inbound Germany. I heard only the ground station as it was mirrored on 132.350. I wonder: did anyone over here hear them too, and do you have an idea what they were?

Rgds,
Pieter

Sounds like C-17 06-0166.

Which was at Spangdahlem 22-11

http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=58133" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Don't know when it arrived but 21-11 could be possible as the only log of this day was from 06.45LT

Sorry no more info.
Assume makes an ASS of U and ME.

That's a good option indeed. But looking at the aircraft type, I'm now wondering why they checked in as "RCH6166 with chicks", though... Perhaps an all-female crew? ;-)

Most likely you misheard it, do you have a recording of it...(Berenbotje??)
RCH6166 is indeed a C-17..

If he had chicks with them, you would hear him checking in with "Chicks in tow, in the block FLxxx to FLxxx"

Grtz
Joost

EDIT, just read you're were flying yourself so no recording made I asume ;-)

I don't know at what time you heard this conversation, but I was on duty from 09:00lt all morning and I can confirm that from 09:00 till 15:00lt there were no flights at all with chicks in tow.

From tape: REACH 6166 checked in with DM arround 10:16 local time not refering to any chicks in tow. They did request an intercept by airdefence buth all aircraft where on the ground because of the weekend according to the DM controller. :D

Where you in the ECZ or the PH-VHC?

It depends: whose R/T do you rate higher? ;-)

(Anyway, I was in VHC. And thanks for refreshing my mind!)
