Due to the economic crisis and resulting cost savings, the Dutch Department of Defence cancels one Open Day per year i.e. in 2010 there won't be Navy Open Days, in 2011 no Army Open Days and in 2012 no Air Force Open Days !!
Well, it doesn't make sense to me to put this sort of info under such a topic as the wish-list for Klu Open Days or on "the Praethuis" section.
Nevertheless, now this info is also on the right spot.
According to an article in a Dutch newspaper (http://www.telegraaf.nl/binnenland/5572 ... html?p=5,2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), the Dutch MoD will cancel one of their public days each year. Normally they have an open day for each service Army, Airforce and Navy. This will mean that in 2010 the Navy days in Den Helder will be cancelled. 2011 will keep the army in their barracks and the worst of all, 2012 will see no airshow of our Airforce.
A very unfortunate choice for defensecuts and a big, big loss for the airshowcircuit in 2012!

Anyway it's a blow for us airshow/aircraft enthousiast in the Netherlands AND the rest of europe that these budgetcuts affect us. But i am shure that JB5 will have some surprises up his sleeve for 2013.
YOU DON'T NEED WHITE LENSES IF YOU GOT A WHITE CAMERA.

That means there will be a lot of aircraft available for the 2012 Texel international airshow ( that is normally held every 3 years )
But if Mike and Ed change the sequence a bit Texel will be the place to be in 2012.
Well i think (and HOPE) that something will happen and that Texel doesn't get to overcrowded by people ... because i think that 250.000 people wouldn't fit on the lovely airport they have.

That might happen anyway next year (if the mighty V says "OFF COURSE I WANNA BE THERE" to their request).
@ Jaap: Just think about your source

Yeah you are right................................they still have two years to extend the airport . Makes things a lot less complicated if Den Helder Airport has to postpone offshore flights in order not to break the maximum movements allowed.
Next stage in defence cuts:
Information on RTV Utrecht. (For English people: they state it is unclear that a new museum will be built upon the former airbase Soesterberg. It will be more sober than they originally planned anyway)

Nieuw Defensiemuseum in problemen

i'd say: change the law, and charge a small fee.....
