Hello,

03/01

KLM made a aborted take-off on the 09.Vacated via N9
Reason: Open winds
Flight number was something with 5 and 7 and the SQ B777 was just behind it.

If someone knows which flight this was with type, registration enz.

Thanks in advance,
Greetings,
Kristof

Hello,

That are winds coming from different directions sometimes with hard gustings.

For example:
10.37 N wind 7 kts
10.38 S wind 14 kts

Something like that. :)

10.37 and 10.38 are times?
Then it is very dramatically and hardly happens, winds changing from 180° to 360° in a minute...
7 and 14 kts velocity are not too bad either.

At the time of abortion/take-off winds were from 200° about 11 knots.
This is a slight tailwind for runway 09, but not too bad usually for a B777.

It was the KLM573 aborted take off (click for audio) due to sliding over (open) the window???

Yep, 'sliding open window' is what he says. I assume he means a window sliding open.

Well, like Pjotrtje, I have never heard of 'open winds' before. I would call what you describe a wind shift.

I was talking to someone so I was only with 1/2 ear listening.

KLM681 to YVR (MD11) and KL867 to KIX (B772 / BQP?) both returned also to the gate. Both left with quite some hours delay. Not the best day for KLM's longhaul ops today.... :?

Unable to Raise Landing gear. Don't think they will declare emergency as gear is down & Locked with good indications. (I have not heard them doing it yet that is)

Should be PH-BXU

EDIT, will be Pan Pan

Hmm in my ATPL meteorology lessons I also have never heard of the term "open winds". Is it perhaps a local (Dutch) term?
