Once you've shot air-to-air out of a Skyvan, you learn to love it :respect: .

Now this is a different story:

And I can't say a regular Q-5 is pretty either:

But neither are other Chinese aircraft, like the F-8:

And if you let Americans loose on a British design it gets ugly as well:

I know this is all just a matter of taste, but you call that ugly? I love it! It's almost like an F-16 that spent some time in the gym!

The regular F-16 took some time to grow on me, but this to me is hideous. The tanks on the fuselage, the dorsal spine, the oversized pylontanks, the bumps on the nose (which unfortunately our MLUs have as well)... Yikes!

I'm not one for body-building or steroids either. Anyway, "Smaken verschillen".

What to think about these two: They are known as SLUF (Short Little Ugly Fella) and Double Ugly, but I like them both :conf: !

Generally I'm not too fond off these thematical topics, but this is a nice one.

Nothing wrong with a PZL.106, but with this bubble cockpit added it certainly gets ugly:

Ugly??

Another subject for discussion. Is this ugly??

The Concorde was a Anglo French collaboration. Thank God for the British because if the French had made it by themselves they would have come up with something extremely ugly like they always do.
The Caravelle isn't that hideous, is it :?: Okay, The nose area and cockpit layout were both taken directly from the de Havilland Comet, while the rest of the plane was locally designed...

Let's rename it into "aircraft that look different" or "aircraft the poster regards ugly". Ugly or pretty will both cause discussion. I do feel that there's quite some people in this thread that post for the sake of posting. If you post Phantoms or Corsairs in this topic, then that's what you're doing. Everybody knows that loads of people regard these planes as their favorite. Same goes for the Snoopy. You may like it or not, but explicitly ugly it ain't.

Those are planes that look normal, maybe (according to some) a bit to the ugly side of the normal-scale, but still normal. Unlike the F-16 posted before, or the B747, that are ugly without a doubt on my side, but in my eyes are beautiful in their ugliness.

The topic still produces nice pics of special planes, so please keep posting the really different ones.

Soapbox mode off,

Marcel

Has the Dash8 Q400 already been mentioned? I consider this one as a really ugly plane! Bah!

(Too bad because the original Dash8 wasn't that bad!)
