Chania/Souda (LGSA/CHQ) - 2010 MIL

Post by Jan H »

Hello all,

yesterday 27 January 2010 at Souda;

RC-135U 64-14849/OF 55th Wing USAF
CN-235 USAF (Landed 16:50 LT, presumably from the east...)
A-7 ex HAF Gate-Guard at U.S. gate

any help with the Corsair and specops CN-235 would be great.

About the CN-235; Maby a heads-up for Lajes or Mildenhall?

Cheers,

Jan.

HAF A-7 was already present in 2008; have a picture of it back home. If no-one beats me to it, I'll check when I get home

Hello all,

Do-28D 4120 Souda Base-Flight HAF (White c/s)

seen flying out of Souda AB for a local flight on 28 Jan 2010 afternoon.

(Probably the last operational military Skyservant in Europe...)

Cheers,
Jan.

preserved Corsair at the US side is 160873. It was first seen there in August of 2008 (as I did), and still reported there in 2009. In 2008, I could easily read it when taxiing out aboard an airliner heading home (take off to the west) as we passed very close to it. According to other sources, 159937 should (also) be preserved on the base, but this was first noted in 2007 and last noted in April of 2008. Hope this helps!
