Expedition Meiringen - The photographic challenge

ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

RRROOOAH... KT, that first night shot is worth its weight in gold :) One of the best Meiringen photos I've seen - even if lacking planes ;)

Hi Iwan, good choice you went to Meiringen instead of gambling on Uruzgan Integration :)
I agree with others about the whites. They are just to bright to have any details left.

Hi Iwan,

I think it is the maximum result while taking pictures in snow. You have to over expose the shots to get a good exposed aircraft. Problem is that you get higlights in the white, this you could avoid by using a grey filter over the lens, and offcourse some post processing. I like the shot of the f-5 landing. Experiment is key!

Hi Iwan,

I've been looking at my own pictures and I also find that it's really hard to get the snow right. I think you've obtained a nice result. I'm editing in Photoshop Elements and the only thing I can do about it is use the "darken highlights" function. That gives you a little more detail on the snow. I will post mine in a few hours.

Nice pics Mars! Of course I love that afterburning F-5 :). Bet that one was taken with 500mm or more...

Haven't you guys had problems in the last spot? I see it's this place - it used to be quite open, but since Axalp 2006 (when some people managed to piss off the land owner), the military got a bit weary... Nowadays we normally have to stay just at the beginning of this small dirt road.
