Got a question;

last year, at the time of the event at Reims AFB there was an F-1 displayed on one of the squares downtown Reims, does anyone have a clue whether she is still there, and what the exact location was/is?

thanks in advance !

As far as I can remember it was on Rue du Chatelet, do not think it is still there! But correct me if I am wrong

Ran into the site of last year's event and it mentions that this F-1 should be there on permanent display so it should still be there, can anyone confirm this?

Polleke is still driving home after a long day on the road but couldn't resist to allready place this log.
Arriving at Reims at 9.35 we just missed to F-1's taking off. Seeing them depart in the distance. After this there was not much action till about 11 o' clock. Only two civil aircraft could be seen and one of them departed.
Luckily the two Mirages returned home and at about the same time the first of a small number Mirages taxied out to the runway for some missions. We only watched them depart and then decided to go to St Dizier.

Seen in sunny weather between 9.30 and 11.30h:

Mirage F-1CR 659/112-NT, 635/112-NP, 610/112-CI
Mirage F-1CT 271/112-QQ, 236/112-QR
Mirage F-1B 507/112-SE, 518/112-SR

By the way, funny to see CR's and CT's taking off together and wearing the same squadron badges.

Are they flying again at Reims or is the France Air Force still on the ground because of the volcanic ash.

How many waves do they normally fly on a friday. If seen that some of you where present at Reims until 18.00 hrs but can you still expext some Mirages comming in around this time??

Every help is more than welcome, i am considering to go this Friday.

Thanks in advance

French airforces bases tend to be very quiet on friday afternoons. So I would count on the morning. The times I have visited Reims you can expect take offs between 09:00 - 09:30 and 10:30 - 11:00. I don't believe the French fly in waves though, so this is not really a walk on a beaten path.

Arjan thanks for your information!!

If they quit flying really early is there something in the surrounding area or under our way home to holland, wich is worth a visit?
Maybe some of you can give me some advice about wrecks & relics or some other air base / airport wich we should visit?

I have never been their?
Hopefully some others has some good advice as well for me.

thanks
ralph
