According to the official website, no Bulgarian air force participation at the show.

Not really unexpected, to be honest; the country is almost broke and new orders are all cancelled and returned to manufacture (like the AS532's) so airshow participations are the first achievements for money savings.

As  as is remains ...

True enough. I only mentioned it because it was mentioned being likely earlier in this thread.

Reading this whole thread, I think I can say that the show is not so good for photos. There is a high fence between the public and the taxiway. The runway looks far away - please correct me if I'm wrong! I don't know about the static, but static shows are hardly ever good enough (for me that is...).
So, I'm considering going on the Friday, on arrivals day. How's taking photos from outside the base? On Airliners.net are several photos of landing aircraft, taken on both sides of the base, that look okay. Can anyone confirm?
Thanks, Rob

Was at Kecskemét during the 2008 edition, standing along the western part of the taxiway between both "parking hardstands"). Entered the show through the Kaffka Margit utca, and I positioned myself on that side of the Airbase.
(See http://www.scramble.nl/databases/airpor ... portid=307" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , you'll have to be a subscriber to Scramble though!)

The fences on the western side were about 1.50 to 1.60 metres high. If you were "vertically challenged" (i.e. short of length/height/staure) you would probably still only need an upturned "bierkratje"/ crate of beer to point your lens over the fence.
No real problems there then, and the taxiway is rather close! The runway is obviously further away, at least "Volkel-distance".

The at least 6 metres high sloped concrete blast fences along the middle part of the runway are something else though. You may photograph aircraft from far behind them during their display but you can forget about runway/taxiway shots of course...
Indeed there aren't that many spectators on this spot

The eastern part more towards the "44 main road" (See http://www.scramble.nl/databases/airpor ... portid=307" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , you'll have to be a subscriber to Scramble though!) had some two to 2.5 metre-heigh fences. I think you could compare them to "bouwhekken" or some fences that can still be found at Valkenburg. You definitely would need some stairs of at least four steps to see over those fences on the southeastern side. :(

Have read that in 2008 some fences were rather lower than they were during previous shows at Kecskemét, this because of suggestions and complaints by Hungarian photographers/spotters. That means I cannot give (m)any guarantees for the height of the fences this year... :(

Thanks very much Strato! The puzzle is some getting shape now. Friday still looks the best day, but a fence of 1,60 metres doesn't sound too bad either.

If people would only tell things they know... Bulgaria cancelled participation, what a wonder.
