Hi all,

Here is a small report of the third day of our trip to Wales.

Just like yesterday we had another great day. Pretty good weather and loads of flying activities. Wednesday's summary was 19 Hawk passes, 5 Harrier passes, 1 Tornado GR4 and the highlight of the day were 4 F-15E passes. Quite busy, as you can see !

We spent the morning at Corris Corner, where the Eagles showed up, and moved back to Cad West around 13.00 hrs. At both spots we spent our time with between 20 - 30 photographers photographers, including some famous names like Joe ( a,k.a. NFLineast - who has been posting here several times), Morley, Kevin, Mark and several of their close friends. It was great meeting you guys !!

A very interesting newsflash that we picked up was the erection of a new low flying forum, which is about to overtake the old lowfly forum. The name is Fox2, and can be found at http://www.fox2.co.uk. We were invited to join this forum, and we noticed it contains a lot of great info and photos. A real must see for the low flying fans !!

After this day we headed out for the east for a day at RAF Cottesmore tomorrow (oh well, today actually, as it's Thursday by now). A new report will follow later, but first a few photos of our last dat in the hilles.

Enjoy,
Iwan

Hi everybody,

After three days in Wales and a day at Cottesmore we came back home in time for Koninginnedag.

The result of our trip was fantastic. The weather was great, with about 40% sunshine, no rain and just three hours of fog. On average we spent from about 09.00 - 18.00 hrs at either the Bwlch, Cad West and / or Corris Corner. The total score of aircraft also made this a memorable trip: 56 passes in about 27 hours. Here is what we saw and shot:

39 x Hawk
6 x Harrier
4 x F-15E
2 x Tornado
2 x Typhoon
2 x Hercules
1 x Alpha Jet

Please note that the number above are passes. Pieter managed to take numbers of 20+ different Hawks. Remarkably almost none of these aircraft did a full loop, and Bwlch and Cad West attracted relatively different traffic. Quite often aircraft from Bala passed straight through Cad without showing up in Bwlch, while other aircraft flew through Bwlch and shot out the loop without passing Cad.

After three days in Wales we headed for Cottesmore, where we managed to shoot 13 Harrier sorties, including quite a number inclusief een heleboel touch and goes.

All in all a very nice and memorable week out, one that all of us would hope for when visiting Wales.

Cheers,
Iwan

As low level photography in Wales leaves plenty of time to relax, I though I'd shoot a nice 210 degree panoramic scenery of Corris Corner. This is the spot where the Eagle was shot against the dark green area on the right side of the opposing hill (see photo on top of this page).

At Corris Corner the aircraft fly from right to left, and arrive within visual range only 5 - 8 seconds before they pass you. Most aircraft will turn towards you in order to make the turn between the hills on the far left of the image. Only a few will fly straight on from the far right of the valley, over the lake, into the distance.

Hope you like the info.

Cheers,
Iwan
