Hello from Portugal

Next 23th May, will be an Open Day and a Spotterday at the Monte Real Air Base, Portugal.

If you want to make a trip to Portugal for hollidays, think about this date and visit one of the more important air bases in Portugal.

Home of F-16 with two Squadrons: 201 Falcões and 301 Jaguares.

For now on the program will be with:

- Chipmunk of Air Force Academy ( Sintra )
- The Piper Cub of Aeroclube de Leiria
- Extra 300 of the António Ideias ( ex-F-16 pilot )
- Rotores de Portugal
- RNLAF Demo Team with the orange F-16

And of couse a lot of PoAF F-16's. 15115 "The Sabre" Special Paint Scheme of thew 50th Anniversary of Monte Real Air Base.

Would anybody know if there is any transport arrangement for the open day on the 23rd? Like shuttlebusses from Leiria or Monte Real town? I am trying to go there, but by public transport from Lisbon I can find options only as far as Leiria.

In the end not a very big event, not even all Portuguese types were present, but it did give a good number of F-16s.

After the show my girlfriend and I decided to do some sightseeing in nearby Leiria, which resulted in even one more F-16. This one was exhibited on the main square Praça Rodrigues Lobo. It was clearly a temporary exhibit, so will probably not be long here.
