Orléans-Bricy (LFOJ) - 2010 MIL

Post by mazzel »

Paid a visit here during a family holiday in France.

Noted on may 5th:

R98/61-ZP C-160R
R95/61-ZM C-160R

R12/61-MG C-160R std
F49/59-MU C-160F std
R48/61-MT C-160R std
R43/61-MO C-160R std

I spent an hour here at the western approach (spot 1 in the scramble guide) between 11.00 and 12.00. I just missed several C-160's coming in and during that time only the two Gazelles came in low over the field. I decided to check out Chateaudun afterwards. After returning from there I again spent again an hour there in the afternoon. R98 and R95 were by then very busy in making practise approaches. No sun, no decent pictures...

The four stored C-160's are alongside the runway on the western side and are visible when driving on the D955 between Clos Aubry and Les Barres.

Not satisfied after my first visit I tried my luck again at Orleans. This time I checked the eastern side of the base first. Spot 4 of the scramble guide revealed R3 on the platform. Driving a little further towards spot 5 another six became visible just North of runway 25. They were easily read off though some codes were blocked from view. An hour spent at spot 1 saw only one of these C-160's returning, an Alpha Jet and two Mirage 2000N's from Luxeuil made a low pas but remained unread. On to Tours...
