Awesome air-to-air pics!

One question, does anyone know the purpose of what appears to be a light coloured "strip" on the left side of the cockpit dashboard in the RNLAF F-16's? I recently noticed it showing up on some other Vipers as well. Thx

Cheers,
S

That strip isn't something recent. It has been on canopies for years.
Answers will be questioned.....

I can see some raindrops on the window at the Eagle shot, maybe it hadn't been cleaned?
But what the hell, I love those shots, especially the Eagle one! :respect:

It contains the "correction coefficients" of the canopy, that need to be entered in the fire control system (together with those of the HUD) in order to display the symbology at the correct place. These correction coefficients are used to compensate for the errors caused by the refractive index ("Brekingsindex") of the canopy.
See: http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brekingsindex" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

BTW Nice shots, Christian !
Kind Regards,

Andries
