Groeten Martijn

- On 12 June Viking plans to go "scheduled service" on the route Erbil-AMS-Erbil with MD80's every Saturday arr. 06.10 - dep. 08.00

- A new destination for AMS is Ercan on (occupied) Turkish Cyprus, operated 1x/weekly on Saturday by Turkish charter carrier Corendon.

But "officially" the destination will be Antalya (if I am not mistaken), because "officially" carriers cannot fly to Northern Cyprus. So the flight is supposed to fly to Turkey (again, I thought it was Antalya), land, backtrack and take off again towards Ercan. Without refuelling or anything.
At least that is what the Corendon owner stated in a newspaper interview....

AirBridge adds AMS-Ekaterinburg 1x weekly B747-400F:

Volga-Dnepr's scheduled freight subsidiary, AirBridge Cargo, is enhancing its intercontinental route network by reinforcing its B747F transit capabilities in Russia.

The airline, which specialises in cargo services between Europe and Asia, is to introduce Amsterdam-Ekaterinburg and Frankfurt-Moscow Domodedovo weekly flights using Boeing 747s.

Opening Ekaterinburg services will allow AirBridge Cargo to expedite freight delivery throughout the Urals industrial region and link it with Hong Kong and other Asian destinations.

By expanding Moscow's operation on 30 May, the carrier says it will become the only carrier offering regular cargo services from Frankfurt both to Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports.

AirBridge Cargo currently performs 28 weekly flights between Europe and the Asia-Pacific region with landings in Russia. It added Almaty, Atyrau, Bishkek and Kabul to its Asian network in 2009.

Last month the carrier took delivery of two leased 747s, increasing its all-747 fleet to nine aircraft, including six -400ERF models.

Cathay Pacific launches round-the-world freighter flight via Amsterdam Schiphol.

On 9 July CX launches the airline’s first 2x/weekly transatlantic crossing HKG-ANC-ORD-AMS-DXB-HKG.

Press-release: 4 June 2010

Cathay Pacific Airways today announced that it will launch its first round-the-world freighter service on 9 July, offering its cargo customers a wider choice and at the same time helping to further develop Hong Kong’s position as a leading international air cargo hub.

The airline has spent months developing the new route, which will initially be operated twice weekly, every Friday and Sunday, using a Boeing 747-400 freighter. The flight will leave Hong Kong and fly via Anchorage to Chicago. From there it will fly onward to Amsterdam and Dubai before returning to Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific Director Cargo Rupert Hogg said: “We are very excited about the launch of this new freighter service which will further strengthen our cargo network and also help in the continued development of Hong Kong’s airfreight hub role – something to which our airline is deeply committed.”

The round-the-world flight is an extension of Cathay Pacific’s existing service to Chicago – the airline currently serves the city with eight flights per week. The flight from the United States to Amsterdam marks the first time for Cathay Pacific to ever operate a transatlantic service. In total, the round-the-world flight will take 44.5 hours to operate, including ground time to uplift freight.

The airline has 10 Boeing 747-8F freighters on firm order with deliveries set to commence in January 2011.
