Participants etc Duxford Flying Legends 10/11 July 2010

Post by Stratofreighter »

As has become custom over the last few years :twisted: most participants for "Legends" are still not publicly known yet.

But, taken from
http://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic. ... 25#p240098" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
BBMF (Lancaster, Spitfire, Hurricane) (F)
B-17 (Sally B) (F)
Breitling Wingwalkers (F)
The Fighter Collection itself:
http://forums.airshows.co.uk/viewtopic. ... =a#p236880" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Sea Fury, Mustang, Spitfire V.
Curtiss Hawk, Spitfire XIV, Nimrod and Corsair: Permit has been been applied for, as has for the Bearcat.

The official http://friends-of-tfc.blogspot.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; may (hopefully!) carry more updates over the next few weeks...

http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?t=101114" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
four of the applications had been approved.

photo spot question : Duxford Flying Legends

Post by FALCONCREST »

I'm going for first time to the Flying Legends on Sunday.

Is it worth the €75 for the Gold Pass from a photographer's point of view?
Whats the best spot anyway ?

tips and suggestion very welcome !

Tnx

I don't know anything about the Gold Pass, but I do know--after frequent visits to Flying Legends--that the best spot for the photographer is between the Tank Museum and the taxiway. The crowd line at Duxford is situated facing the south east, which means that photography with backlight is possible after 2 pm. As the taxiway bends a bit to the south here taxi shots are possible a little earlier. Also there is an elevation on the grounds here making it a popular spot for people with mils.

There is also a good spot on the other end of the runway way near the Airspace Hanger. On this spot the planes are banking before they are climbing out to set them selfs up for the next pass.here are some examples from Legends 08:

Johan, just forget about that Gold Pass, you don't need it and it is a waste of money.

http://www.iwm.org.uk/upload/pdf/Gold_P ... s_2009.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . Flightline Walk access (from 10.00 until about 12.30 hrs) can also be bought for about 3,50 to 5 GBP by any visitor . That outdoor seating enclosure is certainly not any nearer to the runway and taxiway than a "normal place" along the crowd line.
That "priority parking" is also not needed at all...

The description at http://www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk ... xford.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is now at least five years old, but Duxford hasn't changed much over the years, and certainly not for airshow photographers... :idea:

This are enough mm, maybe even too much mm because when the P-51's and the Spit busting up this spot at the 24 side it is hard too keep up with them I got a lot of blurry shots. If you want to see more photo's of Legends 08 check my Picasa area

Worth pointing out that Duxford started a no stepladder policy last year, saw quite a few people being told to get off their ladder and not use it anymore by the stewards.

What about mm's? Is there something to be told about?
I do not read anything on it.
Is 100-300 a good standard? Or do I have to bring my 400mm? As a general guideline it is meant.

It depends on where you are when you are taking your pictures. when you are on the Tank bank or the Spot near the Airspace museum you will have enough with 100-300 but when you are in the middle of the airfield you will need the 400
