The US Coast Guard (USCG) lost its fourth helicopter this year on July 8 when MH-60T Jayhawk 6017 crashed into the Quillayute River in Washington State, killing three of four crewmen on board.
The Jayhawk was on its way to its home base of Sitka, Alaska, from the Coast Guard's Aviation Logistics Centre in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
The MH-60T achieved Initial Operational Capability on October 1, 2009 with the USCG and is an upgraded version of the HH and MH-60J airframes.
The crash is the fourth incident involving a USCG helicopter this year, the most recent being an MH-65C Dolphin that force-landed on April 29.
