Aircraft, General.: The Short Belfast SC-5 is a long range, heavy lift turboprop freighter (12 Foot by 12 Food 144 inch high and wide cargp hold - Bigger than C-130s!).
Only 10 were built for the British Royal Air Force with the designation Short Belfast C.1. When retired by the RAF, five went into civilian service with the cargo airline HeavyLift Cargo Airlines.
The aircraft is still flyable (as of January 2010) in Australia for HeavyLift Cargo Airlines it is parked at Cairns International Airport in Queensland.
The Belfast has a rear laoding cargo door with drive on ramp, it can lift approx 30,000 KG and it has a 10 hour non stop range (almost 5000 miles in ferry).
