Hi all,
The August 2010 issue of Scramble has been released this week!
In this month's edition we have special features about:
- G20 Toronto summit
Founded in 1975, the G20 (Group of 20) began as a forum for finance ministers and central bank governors of six countries
(France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and the United States) who met once a year to discuss international economic issues. Over the years other countries were added to this group. The 37th meeting of the forum was held on 25 and 26 June 2010 in Huntsville (Ont.), which meant that Toronto’s Lester B. Pearson International Airport was the place to be at the end of June.
- Colombian bicentennial
Two-hundred years of independence provided a great motive for the Fuerza Aérea Colombiana (FAC) to show its
professionalism and power in a peaceful way. Preparations for these bicentennial celebrations started a few years ago,
but it was only a few days before the actual parade, that the magnitude of the participation of the air force became fully
known. Our editor went to Bogotá and reports.
- F100 to Aviodrome, Lelystad
On Wednesday 23 June 2010, the Aviodrome museum added their latest addition the Fokker collection they already have on display. Fokker 100 PH-OFA, untill very recent operational for KLM Cityhopper, part of the Air France KLM group set its wheels on the asphalt of Lelystad airport’s runway at 13:30h, after a low pass over the runway centreline. We have a report on the airframe's history.
And some extensive airshow reports about:
- La Ferté Alais 2010
Once again the airfield of La Ferté Alais Cerny, situated to the south of the French capital Paris, was the place to be during
the Pentecost weekend of 22 and 23 May. Scramble was there and with the big help of Arno Cornelissen/GRAS reports on all warbirds that were at the scene.
- Farnborough 2010
Every two years, and dating back to 1948, the town of Farnborough (located in Hampshire county, and about 20-25 miles
southwest of London-Heathrow), becomes the capitol of the aviation community for a week, when it hosts the Farnborough
International Air Show. Hundreds of thousands of visitors (both trade and public) come together and marvel at modern and
historic aircraft, equipment and the latest technologies. We have a report of all aircraft present between 19 - 26 July.
- ILA 2010 Berlin-Schönefeld
Besides Farnborough, also Berlin hosted its bi-annual air show week. A most spectacular international debut was that of the Airbus A400M, which flew some incredible turns during its displays on the first three days. Although the air-power demo of the German Air Force was a bit smaller than announced, the show still offered some great displays in the air as wel as on the ground.
