Request: Spotting in Alverca and Sintra, Portugal!

Hi all,

End of september I'll be spending a week in Portugal (Lissabon) with the family. I am thinking of using this opportunity to go the museums in Alverca and Sintra. Please be so kind to send me some info on these musea on when to go there, how to get there. I am not really sure if I am able to use a rental car there, so if anybody also got some info on the public transport system that would be great!

Sintra is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 17:00
Alverca is open Monday 10:00 to 17:00 (since the same lady that works in Sintra has to take care of the access at Alverca as well)

Alverca has a train station just opposite of the museum entrance. Sintra is situated here; http://www.emfa.pt/www/po/musar/janelaMapa.php?lang=pt" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I guess a car is the only viable option.

There is also a bus going from Algueirao station to Covoes (and beyond) that passes Sintra airbase. It stops on the mainroad at the exit to the airbase maingate. I have been trying to find the bus number and schedule, but can´t seem to find it now. However, I am afraid it will run rather infrequent, so it might not be a very good option after all. What you can do, if you don´t want to rent a car, use a taxi from the Alqueirao station. Taxis in Portugal are not expensive and plentiful at stations.
