Defensie moderniseert Cougar-transporthelikopters

09-09-2010

Short translation: The Dutch Ministry of Defence is to have the Air Force's 17 Cougars modernised and updated. The costs of this programme are going to range between 50 and 100 million euros.
Modernising and updating the Dutch AS532s has become necessary as Eurocopter will no longer manufacture certain parts from about 2015 onwards.

The Dutch Cougars are also lacking certain navigational aids.

Eurocopter is to modernise two helicopters, the air force will make up the balance, possibly in cooperation with Dutch industry.

If I remember correctly, some time ago the Ministry of Defence presented plans for budget cuts with several scenarios, but in each scenario the Cougars would be retired/sold. Are we gonna upgrade them for 100 million now and sell them for 120 million in a couple of years? Is Mr. Kamp available for another period as minister of defence?

Can't find these plans anymore, anyone got them? I think they were available somewhere in PDF format..
