Billund EKBI S61 action

Post by jhk »

Royal Danish Air Force U-279 the fine old lady was in the air today with intentions of an ILS approach in EKBI.

I hurried into a car and into the maneuver area very close to the runway to get a few shots.
During the approach the air traffic controller called the pilot and told him that a car was parked nearby and a guy with photographic equipment was anxiously to get a few shots.. After a short stop on the runway, they came pretty close :)

All Danish S-61s were retired officially retired last June ( http://www.key.aero/view_news.asp?ID=21 ... n=military ), but this has apparently not stopped "U-279" making approaches to Billund... 8)

The RDAF is trying to sell some of the Sea Kings and they are therefore kept in flying condition and once in a while they are taken out the strech their legs.
Kind regards
