Any additional Scrapyard pictures ?

Last year we visited the scrapyards, here is a small impression (sorry for the old scrapyard names, they change so quick).

first a few aircraft at Allied










Dross Metals still has a dozen or so C-117's


Western has al sorts of a/c and is very "active"


It always looks like the yard next to ALlied has the most wrecky a/c


Consolidated has a lot of long term store a/c


and some short term

Hi,

Great pictures and much better than my own. We also did a fence walk on 2nd April at sunrise and got some great shots - no questions asked. Your own are helping with the logs as we only got one overflight on the 3rd.
The pilot asked permission for overflight with five passes, he got permission for one so we were a little limited. Strangely later on Saturday when we got a visit to the DM Tower, I actually spoke with the Controller who gave the permission and he said that sometimes now even on a Saturday, permission is not always given. He advised that the best way for permission for an overflight is via the PAO at DM.

AMARG is still an awesome place although the scrapyards are disappearing fast. The EPA are having a go at them and DMI is now gone completely. One Herc moved to Minden only.

The Gannet is at Pima (XL482) and you will also note that one of AMARG's German Tornadoes 43+74 is also now on display. You will see it in top left of second Pima shot.

71 C.135's, or whats left of it, and one piece of a wing from a Cessna 172 (N80187)

Anyone for the type and registration of the aircraft positioned in the second row form the right, third aircraft from below (Aircraft with large US Air Force titles on the fuselage and a light blue tail fin)? Doesn't look like a KC-135 to me.

My bet would be it is an E-8. It is longer than the other KC-135s making it probably a real B707. E-8s are real B707s and used to have those USAF titles on the fuselage. There are 2 more visible by the way, one in the second row from the left and one in the third row from the left.

Thasnk for your fast reply, sadly their are no E-8's stored at AMARC.

There seems to be an EC-137 in the middle row (left fourth from below) and another E-8 in the left row (right, 6th from below). The ones that might be E-8s even have the GA tailcode by the looks of it.

No, I think wamovements is right. I was going through all the true B707 types in the USAF inventory (past and present) and could only think of: C-137, E-3, E-6 and E8.
C-137 had different colours, E-3 is obvious, E-6 was only one (rest USN), so left only the E-8. Those have these colours and titles, hence that it should be. But.... I forgot one type: TC-18. And now check this picture. That is your mystery plane.

Question solved! Then come to think of it, I have actually seen one of those do some approaches somewhere at a US airfield years ago.

Funny, isn't that a H-34 in South Vietnamese Air Force colours at the Allied scrapyard? Amazing it survived all those years at the AMARC/scrapyard.
