Does anyone know when the CVW-5 is back at Atsugi.
I am planning to go there once next year.
Thanks in advance Eduard Weijmer
CVW-5 returned to Japan at the beginning of this month.
Their future deployment schedule is not released to the public, but www.gonavy.jp covers carrier deployments on a weekly basis. As CVW-5 has just returned from a deployment,it is unlikely to be embarking on another one before late winter at least.
Judging by the message above for November 16th: one visitor, a C-12, Atsugi may seem to be a boring place. The contrary is true. This is a report from the ground of this glorious sunshiny day (0900-1700).

Combined with perfect and relaxed spotting and photo opportunities makes that Atsugi deserves to carry the title "superbase".
From reports en passim, the F/A-18Cs of VFA-195 have lost their unit markings. This should imply these jets will be replaced by other F/A-18Cs,presumably arriving from NAS Lemoore,CA.
