India’s third Mainstay on its way
Beriev has completed the third A-50 Mainstay AWACS aircraft for India.

Russian news agency RIA Novosti reports that Beriev has completed the third A-50 Mainstay Advanced Warning and Control Systems (AWACS) aircraft for India, part of an order placed in 2004.
The Mainstay is based upon the Ilyushin Il-76MD military transport and is fitted with the Israeli-made Phalcon radar system.
The first two are already in service with 50 Squadron of the Indian Air Force at Agra Air Base and the third aircraft has now been sent to Israel Aerospace Industries at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv for the fitting of the radar system.
It is expected that the Indian government will order three more aircraft, although a decision has been postponed several times.
