RAF Puma roadrunner Belgium 10/01/11

Post by Copter »

Found this in another part of this forum:

----

Hello,

yesterday 10-01-11, I saw near Brussel Ap een RAF Puma on a trailer. The registration was behind a piece of paper, so not to read.
The Puma went in the direction of Aachen.

Who knows more about this Puma ?

Didn't see any replies or follow up on this one....
I know some RAF Pumas go to Eurocopter in France for updates, but the direction (Aachen) seems a bit strange for this. Another option that crossed my mind is XW227. This Puma disappeared in the UK and was rumoured to have left for The netherlands. It could be this one that "resurfaced" again?
Either way I am very interested in id and destination!

Just a thought: If you travel from Brussels (where the Puma was noted) in the direction of Aachen and make a left turn somewhere along the way, you end up with Piet Smedts Aero in Baarlo... which IS in the Netherlands.

Always going forward... still can't find reverse!

I just received two pictures of the transport in question. First thing that caught my attention was the driver sitting on the right hand side, making it a British truck. Furthermore the helicopter did look very good, definately not like a crash victim like XW227 is.
So my guess is it was an operational helicopter on its route to an overhaul/upgrade after all....
