VFA-195 F/A-18E arrival at Atsugi

Post by Le Addeur noir »

The F/A-18E of VFA-195 are expected to arrive at Atsugi this coming April.

The arrival will complete the re-equipment of CVW-5 to a all Super Hornet Air wing, which will be unique within the US Navy.

Perm any 12 from the BuNo block 166901 to 166914.

166901 has already been noted as NF400 and 166902 as NF401.

Can anyone else tie up any of the others?

Regards

Mark

There's a lack of reports out of Japan at this time for reasons that are obvious.

There was a tanker drag into Kadena with 6 F/A-18 on the 19th which was not a UDP change. This may be related to these jets.

VFA-115 have 11 jets and VFA-27 13,which has in the past been the standard number of jets per squadron on this Air Wing.

Once these jets arrive,CVW-5 will have 3 squadrons of very new F/A-18 and VFA-27 with 165xxx series early F/A-18E.Speculation,but an upgrade by this unit to new block airplanes can't be that far off.

The CVW-5 VAQ unit is due to be an FA-18G unit in the near future as well.

VFA-195 E models are still at Oceana for CQ training.

No other bunos known yet (to me).
