Key Field / Meridian, MS (KMEI/MEI) - 2011 MIL

Post by eriktex »

Hi all,

The following was logged on Sunday 27th of March:

MC-12W 09(06)48
MC-12W 090(6)40
MC-12W 080293
MC-12W 090546
MC-12W 090560
MC-12W (88)0776

All KC-135s are now gone. Some help with the above would be nice, not all of these airframes had been noted yet and they are not in the scramble database. Also I do not know to which unit they belong.

Also parked here during the weekend, to make some space available for the show at NAS Meridian were the following:

T-6B 166012/E-012

plus lots of T-45C's, all VT-7 and VT-9. Only the codes were read off, serials are assumed using the database:

165472/A-100
165497/A-154
165464/A-121
165498/A-155
165489/A-146
165615/A-173
165484/A-141
165091/A-112
165480/A-137
165082/A-103
165614/A-172
165089/A-110
165469/A-126
165086/A-187
165493/A-150
165467/A-124
165469/A-126
161590/A-111

That's all folks,

Hi Erik,

Hope you did not get too wet at Meridian :P

At Key we had - in no particular order:
090648
090640
080293
080376
090660
090646
Indeed three f/ns for the Scramble database 8)

With regard to the Goshawks, there were more. Hard to count exactly, they blocked each other all the time ;-) The maximum I could see was 19+2 (see later).

Extra on our list:
A-120 and A-166, these two were parked on the civ side a little bit further down the ramp than the T-6
A-151
A-167
Missing from our list:
A-103
A-187 (probaly a mix up between this one and A-167 :-?)

So together we got most I think!

I will be piecing together the showreports for Tyndall and Meridian the coming weeks, so I hope your can help me with that too?

That's because Scramble's USAF DB isn't up to date! Sorry Jurgen
All are known MC-12W's and if i'm correct these belong to 186ARW/153ARS MS ANG. The last two (660 and 646) were recently seen in a warmer climate, and when they are there they should belong to 455AEW/4ERS or 332AEW/362ERS.

Erwin & DJ,

Thanks for the updates! I will post my logs for Tyndall and NAS Meridian but only if I can find the time, time, time... Maybe even some pics if you like.

Hi all,

I visited Key Field on Saturday around lunch time. I can confirm the same MC-12Ws as stated by Erwin.
On the civil side US Navy C-37B (166)377 was also present next to the T-6B. It didn't move during my 30 minutes visit to this place, but it did have its engines running. The heatwaves produced by this Gulf did give me some trouble with reading all the Goshawks in the background (on the ANG ramp). I did manage to read most and have the following additional comments:
A-180 was also present
A-187 was also read by my. I also specifically logged A-167, so I believe both were present!
If I counted correctly (was difficult since the Goshawks were blocking eachother and the C-37B didn't help either), there were 22 Goshawks present. Based on the logs here I believe we identified all of them:

A-120 and 166 on the civil side
A-100, 103, 110, 111, 112, 121, 124, 126, 137, 141, 146, 150, 151, 154, 155, 167, 172, 173, 180 and 187 on the ANG ramp.

MS ANG had turned in their last tanker the week before. They will start operating the C-27 Spartan later this year.
No numbers of the Chinooks, guys??
We were there on monday of the Meridian Show, three MC-12 took off for a mission, and we saw one Tuesday morning on a practice approach into Birmingham!
All (six) MC-12s had a fat belly, but the ones that flew carried no humpbacks, others had.
Arnold and me need some time sorting out the number on slides, digital.
We also did Columbus, and that produced 120+ numbers in an afternoon.Pfff.

Still sorting out the T-45's.

I noted the following CH-47D's with the MS NG, 1-111 Avn.
(..-..)101.
(87-00)107.
(91-00)268.
(92-00)283.

The 101 has not been noted with the 111th to my knowledge. Therefore not sure if this is the FY87 or FY88. I believe 88-00101 is based in Germany. Therefore the 87-00101 might make more sense. Any confirmation is appreciated.

Tally out.
