Hi, being under the smoke of the runway of Liny for a few days I had to see the old birds of course.
the log from 27-4-2011:
flying started at 8.15 and went on until 4 PM. 4 Saabs flew 4 missions each.
Saab 105: code I yellow, D red, RF-26 tiger c/s, G blue
Bell412: 1 flew with a special 30yrs c/s, 2 more flew that day.
C-130: 8T-??
Firefighting trainin a/c can be seen at the southwest side of the field. A Bell: 4D-8X, Draken: 10 red
I was told that normally flying days are tuesday and wednesday but today they are also flying since 8.30.
In the afternoon there was a Saab 2-ship demo training and later a single ship demo training as well!
The spotting places I used were the end of a small road to the northwest of the field just in the corner of the fence and to get a good view of the military part of the field, cause of the sunlight, and later just opposite of this spot close to the taxiways in the village of Hörsching. There is also a spot even further west to capture the planes still airborne while landing. 300mm is enough for taxishots. There were no problems parking or taking pictures. Just in the first spot you have to take a small walk (400m) as it is prohibited to enter the road.
Pictures will be posted next week.
