44+61 was still at here on Monday as it flew as part of a 4 ship in the morning
We noticed a Tornado all covered up in the shelter area when departing looks like it could have been us, any one know which one
it was in the shelter area used by AG51 (i think) not the area with the unit that had the large inflatable tiger on one shelter
cheers

Anyone for AG51 Tornado IDS 44+61, did this one departed and replaced by 45+64?
maurits wrote:44+69, 46+10 and 46+44 didn't fly yesterday, so the covered one must be one of these.
46+44 was in front of a HAS amongst the other JBG32 aircraft, so not in the area Phil mentions. Not necessarily either 44+69 or 46+10 - what if one of the AkG51 aircraft that flew earlier in the day had become u/s or had been covered up for some other reason by the time Phil left?
Guys thanks for trying, i only needed 2 and both of them flew, my son needs all and were just trying to tie down the odd ones
however if it is not clear as to which one it is, then it is not a problem
Dave was the JBG32 area the one behind the spotters are or the one with the big tigers head(lost tarck on units years ago
thanks
phil

Cheers dave, then the Tornado in question was within the AKG51 area
Last monday I spent about an hour looking at it due to security checks on our two buses running "somewhat" behind schedule; therefore I can state in all honesty that the (FAKE) serial is NOT 124, but 128! This also happens to be the way it is registered in the Scramble database... The thing is, once this mistake is made by someone, people start copying it and it therefore has a tendency to be regarded as "the truth" (as far as a fake serial can be true, of course). Well, it is not... "128" it is!

That's interesting! I did also note "128" and after a while I checked my book and asked some one on the field if they could confirm that; he repy that it was wrong; 124 was the correct number... so I changed (despite I was pretty sure about what I read). When driving off the field I forgot to check this aircraft again (as we pass by).... so I was right.... it is 128!!! Interesting to see how many people are writting down a number that has been mistaken in a book!
Anyone knows which two Tornado's in the AG51 area were visible during the spotter's day of May 17th? Fron one the tail could be seen, from the other only the canopy. They must be two of the following three: 43+48, 44+69 of 46+10, for all the other AG51 Tornado's participated in yesterday's missions. Can anyone help me out?
That was most probably 43+48, since the tail was visible in the morning, when this one didn't fly, and was gone in the afternoon, when 48 was flying a mission.
Out of curiosity: why is everybody referring to the Greek F-16's as belonging to "335MV" instead of "335MB"? "335MB" is displayed on their badge, and "MB" stands for "Moira Bombardismou" (Greek transposed, translating into "Bomber Squadron") according to the Hellenic AF (http://www.haf.gr/el/structure/units/at ... /335mb.asp and in English http://www.haf.gr/en/structure/units/at ... pm.asp#335) and every other Greek publication I can find. The only explanation I can find is a linguistic mix-up between Greek and Russian (Cyrillic, rather) made by non-Greek speakers. In Russian, the "B" is pronounced as a "V" (Mockba> Moskva), but not in Greek! Could we switch to 335MB, please?

Actually, "MB" isn't also correct...since the transition from A-7E Corsair to the F-16 blk 52 adv, the main tasks of 335 SQ is multirole. So now it is 335 M
As far as "MB" and "MV" is concerned, the mix-up is because in Greek when you use the word "Bombardismou" is heard like "Vomvardismou"...on the other hand the correct OLD official reference is "335 MB".
This is the current Squadron's badge, just with an M
