Forum rules
ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

These kind of comments are the reason I spend more time on UKAR or Flugzeugforum than on Scramble (not that that should bother anyone), the athmosphere is so much friendlier there.

Perhaps there is some noise and the pics are obviously cropped, but I think that's a well-considered choice of the photographer. Of course, if people specifically ask for feedback on their pics, it's OK to make remarks like this, but I think the OP is not exactly a newby in aviation photography, and is probably aware of some noise and perhaps 'overcropping'. This is his style, and I have to say, I like the shots and his site!

Just had to get this of my mind..

Gerben

Sorry to say but when i look at UKAR or FF and i see all those "wow's" and "great shot comments" at pictures which are not sharp, just a normal angel, just an ordinary side shot then i always think to myself are people making such a comment because they are polite, or they know the person or do they really like those "average" shots.

Dutch people maybe known as not so "political" in the way they say things and they do have their hearth on the tongue (if that is an English expression), but when they say they like pictures they surely do. In this case Rob clearly does not like the, in his opinion over cropped pictures. That's his opinion and its one of the many opinions in this topic. It's a good thing people are critical over here and can also share "negative" comments instead of all the "polite" wows and great shots.

Back to topic, i know what i could expect when i saw the topic title and the author of it and i must say great shots again. This series of pictures shows a different view of the RIAT instead of all the shots from the airfield. And indeed some pictures have some noise but if you do not take that into account they are very spectacular!

I think it's a discussion between photographers and picture collectors.

It's like art. Some things you like, some things don't. I think these pictures are terrific, very dominant and full of (e)motion. Maybe after 15-20 of these it's too much for me (like eating caviar on a daily basis), but that's the same after 15-20 50mm flightline pictures. I'm not really into the noise- issue. When you crop, there is noise.
Please show a few more! :)
