Goetsenhoven (EBTN) - 2011 MIL

Post by r.e.hendriks »

Hi all,

Paid a shot visit to Goetsenhoven yesterday (27-07-2011).
Here is a small log:

Parked inside hangar:
PL-30 DG.300 Belgian Air Cadets BAF
PL-75 G.102 Belgian Air Cadets BAF
PL-76 G.102 Belgian Air Cadets BAF wings only
PL-78 G.102 Belgian Air Cadets BAF

The hangarchief told me the plan is to use the wings of the PL-76 on the PL-78 in the future.
It seems that the PL-76 crashed some time ago.

Best regards Rob.

Hello Rob,

paid a visist at Goetschenhoven on 13-4-2011, the PL-76 was on a trailer in good shape!
So it shhould be after 13-4-2011 that it made a mishap...

The PL-76 was damaged beyond economical repair during a field-landing near Bertrix AB on August 15th, 2008.
Crudely repaired the PL-76 wreck will be used by the RBAC as a static recruiting display object.

Good evening,

I understood the military completely left Goetsenhoven nowadays. Does anybody know this is correct indeed, and if so
is alle the glider-related stuff gone right now? Or can still lsomething be found in the former SF260 hangars ?

Hello Remco,

I was there early February and indeed all gliders have left to nearby Brustum (if I remembered correctly else it would have been Bevekom). Still to be found are the offices of the Belgian Air Cadets. But almost all gliders have left and all maintenance activities have disappeared. In two trailers there were still 2 gliders, and the remainders of a number of crashed examples were also still there (as they have always been). During the Easter period, the gliders will return for their summer stay.

Hello Jeroen,

Thx for the response ! I assume they left to Bevekom, as Brustem is also completely left by the military (?!?).
Nevertheless I'll give Goetsenhvoen a short try on my way from Beauvechain to Saffraanberg next Sunday,
you'll never know what to expect..........

regards,
Remco
