Boeing received the US$ 70 million QF-16 engineering and manufacturing development contract in March 2010.
Initial production of 6 QF-16 test aircraft is planned to begin next month at Cecil Field, Fla.
First test flight expected to take place in February 2012.
The QF-16 production contract will, when awarded, convert up to 126 retired F-16s to QF-16s.
First delivery will then be for 2014.
