YOKOSUKA NAVAL BASE, Japan — A descending Navy fighter jet’s close encounter with two sailors on the USS George Washington’s flight deck did not result in disciplinary action, but a video of the incident is being used for safety training throughout the Navy, officials said Friday.

“No one was injured, no equipment was damaged, and we don’t punish sailors for honest mistakes,” Storum added in a written statement.

Vanaf de 1e seconde van de film staat de grote F al in beeld (=foul deck), dan had die F-18 daar nooit mogen/kunnen landen.
Maar ff rondkijken kan nooit kwaad.....

Dichter bij huis...op de voormalige Langenbergseweg tussen Gilze en Rijen kon je ook vanghaak van een NF-5A/B in je nek krijgen als je voor de baan 28 stond in de jaren tachtig...

That reminds me of an incident on the Indy in the 80′s.
We were recovering aircraft one afternoon when a guy from the Mess Decks (apron and all) comes walking across the flight deck by the three wire.

The A-7 Corsair on final had already been waved off when the Air Boss growls over the loudspeaker “You there!”, the guy looks around and then the Boss growls “Yes! You! Don’t nobody move that man! I’m going to let him die! I’m going to drop a plane on him!”, right then the A-7 goes over about 200 feet up.

This guy turns white as a ghost and sets a land speed record in getting off the deck.

We had to suspend flight ops for about 15 minutes because everybody was laughing too hard to do anything.
