I never realized that this thing was so large. You only see it now that there's a person next to it.

It has a 99 serial, so I asume this is meant for test purposes? not for an operational squadron yet.
The thing is huge indeed...

Until now, all drones have been given a 99+serial. The testing is done while carrying 98+serials.

It will join AG51 in the future.

Hi Bart,

I have googled to find a description of the difference but couldn't find clues. What is the difference?

This is linguistics I think, however my two cents:

Drones sound to me like the 'small' flying objects mostly used for being a target. Even the remotely oppertaed QF-4's had only a small number of evasive manouvres preprogrammed which it could do by itselve.

UAV's sound to me like remotely operated flying craft with a high degree of autonomous functionality, intelligent manouvring.

On the other hand one can also say that drones have seen the same developments as all the other aircraft like multiaxis autopilots, DEEC's, GPS, andsoforth. So a drone is still a drone only smarter nowadays. Janes' uses both same names....

Fortunately they will only get 4 of these things. So the change that you stumble upon one is very small.
