Hi all,
Today I received I message from a friend who was cleaning up his files, if I knew of any report of the Deelen Airshow in 1963. He visited this show as a young boy and made a few pictures there (he still has 6 from a single Harvard and 1 from a Nike missile) but lost his log long since.
He would really like to get hold of a list of the aircraft present that day.
On those pictures he noted the date June 15th, 1963 so he assumes that is correct. In 1963 the 60'th birthday of the Dutch Air Force was held at Deelen, so this could very well be a show to celebrate the 50th birthday.
In the book "Vlucht door de Tijd" (A Flight through Time) published by the Dutch Air Force in '88 to mark the 75th Birthday a chapter recalls the history of Dutch Air Shows, with the first being held in 1963, indeed because of the 50th birthday. However, a total of 14!! have been held that year (probably every airbase had one) with the most popular being Valkenburg and Ypenburg.
Unfortunetaly not very much can be found on the internet.
Is someone able to provide such a list? Or maybe a link to more information?
Many thanks,
Arjan
