thanks for that information too, Banter. Yes I made the trip to the North and indeed all five F-16s went airborne a few minutes past nine in nice sunshine, while the Transalls are preparing right now. Four Phantoms plus two Skyhawks have also been flying until now.

Hello all,
I'm planning to visit Wittmund next week.
Does anybody know what is the best day of the week to see as much action as possible, and also what are the flying times?
As this is a 330 km far trip, i don't want to drive over there to see nothing.
I hope someone has an answer for me.
(ps. from central Netherlands there probably is room in the car for passenger)

airfield closed next monday, public holiday on the Tuesday in the southern parts for Germany (probably without impact on Wittmund), shorter flying on the Friday, so I would recommend the Wednesday or the Thursday. Flying times normally from 08.00 until 16.00 hours. Dont kill the messenger if something goes wrong, e.g. weather ...

Wittmund stays open BTW !!
Friday can be a good choice. In the old days they flew 4 waves a day, nowadays 2 a day, but on Friday they still fly two waves in the morning most of the times !

Thanx for the info so far.
Is there also a schedule when the skyhawks fly or is it just luck if they fly?

And for the ones who don't speak German, a short translation. Wittmund will receive 20 Eurofighters after the Phantoms are gone, and it might later rise to 40 Eurofighters. So Wittmund will not suffer the same fate as Lechfeld, Hohn or Penzing.

Anyone a idea when the first EF-2000 will arrive at Wittmund?, will it be in the Phantom era or for sure after the Phantom?
should be nice to see 2 type's flying around on 1 field!
